Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Breadcrumbs optional for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). A properly heated oven ensures even cooking.
  • Prepare the Cream Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, milk, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Stir well until blended.
  • Grease the Baking Dish: Take a baking dish and grease it with butter to prevent sticking and add a bit of extra flavor.
  • Layer the Ingredients: Place half of the sliced potatoes in the dish, then pour half of the cream mixture over them. Follow this with half of the cheddar and Parmesan cheese.
  • Repeat the Layers: Next, layer the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and top with your remaining cheeses. If you want a little extra crunch, sprinkle some breadcrumbs on top.
  • Bake: Cover your dish with foil and bake for about 45 minutes. Then, remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden and the potatoes are tender.
  • Cool and Serve: Allow the dish to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy this comforting delight with your favorite main course
