Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 2 pieces Beef steaks (around 1-inch thick) Choose cuts like sirloin or ribeye for best results.
  • 2 cups Mushrooms (sliced) Feel free to experiment with varieties like cremini or shiitake.
  • 1 large Onion (sliced)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup Beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce Use gluten-free soy sauce for a gluten-free version.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • Salt and Pepper (to taste) Generously season steak before cooking.
  • Fresh herbs (optional, for garnish)

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by slicing your mushrooms and onion, and finely mincing the garlic. The more prepared you are, the smoother the cooking process!
  2. Generously season both sides of beef steaks with salt and pepper to taste.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steaks and sear each side for 4-5 minutes until they’re beautifully browned and cooked to your preference. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and mushrooms. Sauté for about 4-5 minutes until the onions are translucent and the mushrooms have released their liquid.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the beef broth and soy sauce. Stir to combine and let it simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing the sauce to reduce slightly.
  5. Place the seared steaks back into the skillet, allowing them to mingle in the sauce for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  6. If desired, sprinkle with fresh herbs before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat gently to maintain tenderness.
