Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, combine the shredded chicken, mayonnaise, mustard (if using), garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
Assembly
- Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place the buttered side down on a baking sheet.
- Evenly distribute the chicken mixture over each slice of bread.
- Generously sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.
Cooking
- Transfer the baking sheet to your preheated oven and bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and golden.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a couple of minutes.
- Slice the toast into halves or quarters, serve warm, and enjoy.
Notes
You can add sautéed bell peppers or spinach for added nutrition. Avoid overloading toppings for even melting. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days, and freeze unbaked toast for a month.
