  • 1 pie crust 1 pre-made pie crust (store-bought or homemade) Use your preferred type of crust.
  • 1 pound 1 pound of ground beef You can use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 1 medium 1 onion, diced Adds flavor to the filling.
  • 1 cup 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to substitute with other types of cheese.
  • 2 tablespoons 2 tablespoons of ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon of mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust according to your preference.
Optional Toppings
  • pickles, lettuce, diced tomatoes Add your favorites to personalize the dish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and diced onion until fully cooked and no longer pink. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Stir in the ketchup, mustard, salt, and pepper until everything is evenly coated and heated through.
  4. In a pie dish, lay down the pie crust. Pour the beef mixture evenly over the crust and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
Baking
  1. Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for about 25 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is golden.
  2. Once done, let the pie cool for a few minutes before slicing. Add any optional toppings you desire.

Notes

For a lighter version, try using lean ground turkey or plant-based substitutes. You can also experiment with different types of cheese for an added flavor kick! Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze before baking for up to a month.
