Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb halal sausage (ground or sliced)
  • 4 large potatoes (cubed)
  • 1 whole onion (chopped)
  • 4 cups chicken broth (or vegetable broth for a vegetarian option)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Pepper (to taste)
  • Optional: Green onions (for garnish)

Method

Cooking
  1. In a large pot over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned, about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Incorporate the cubed potatoes and mix well with the sausage and onion.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer, cover, and cook for 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are tender.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream, season with salt and pepper, and let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions if desired.

Notes

For substitutions, consider using diced chicken or turkey sausage if halal sausage is unavailable. Vegetarians can use plant-based sausage alternatives. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days, or freeze for longer storage.
