Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Drain excess grease if needed.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until well combined.
- Add the cooked sausage, cubed bread, shredded cheese, and chopped vegetables to the bowl with the egg mixture. Gently stir until everything is evenly coated.
- Transfer to a greased casserole dish, spreading the mixture evenly.
Baking
- Bake for 30-40 minutes or until the casserole is set in the middle and the top is golden brown.
- Cool slightly, cut into squares, and serve warm.
Notes
You can prepare it the night before and refrigerate overnight; adjust the baking time if it's cold from the fridge. Let the casserole sit for a few minutes after baking to set and make cutting easier. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or freeze portions wrapped tightly for up to 2 months.
