Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound sausage Any type of sausage, can be swapped for turkey sausage.
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice) Can use any preferred cheese.
  • 4 cups cubed bread (such as French or Italian)
  • 1 cup chopped vegetables (bell peppers, onions, etc.) Customize with your choice of veggies.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Drain excess grease if needed.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until well combined.
  4. Add the cooked sausage, cubed bread, shredded cheese, and chopped vegetables to the bowl with the egg mixture. Gently stir until everything is evenly coated.
  5. Transfer to a greased casserole dish, spreading the mixture evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until the casserole is set in the middle and the top is golden brown.
  2. Cool slightly, cut into squares, and serve warm.

Notes

You can prepare it the night before and refrigerate overnight; adjust the baking time if it's cold from the fridge. Let the casserole sit for a few minutes after baking to set and make cutting easier. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or freeze portions wrapped tightly for up to 2 months.
