Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine the warmed milk and honey, stirring until the honey is fully dissolved. Add in the melted butter, chopped sage, and eggs.
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, salt, and instant yeast. Gradually add this to the wet mixture until a dough starts to form. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough into a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and allow it to rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- After rising, punch down the dough, divide it into equal pieces, and shape them into balls. Place the balls in a greased baking dish, allowing some space between them.
- Cover the rolls with the kitchen towel and let them rise again for about 30 minutes, or until puffy.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Once out of the oven, brush them with additional melted butter and sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
- Enjoy these rolls fresh out of the oven, either plain or with a dab of extra honey butter!
Notes
Don’t rush the rising time for the dough to develop flavors and achieve light and fluffy rolls. Feel free to experiment with different herbs for unique flavors. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for up to a month.
