Method
Preparation
- Start by peeling and dicing the Honey Crisp apples into small pieces.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Mix these dry ingredients well.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk and egg until fully combined.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring just until combined. A few lumps are perfectly fine! Gently fold in the diced apples.
Cooking
- In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat about an inch of oil over medium heat. Test if it’s hot enough by dropping a little batter into the oil; it should sizzle immediately.
- Using a spoon or small ice cream scoop, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil. Fry in batches for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain.
- While still warm, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over each fritter. Serve them drizzled with honey for an extra-special touch!
Notes
Store leftover fritters in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days or freeze for a month. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes or in a pan over low heat.
