Ingredients

For the fritters
  • 2 cups Honey Crisp apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • Oil for frying Oil for frying
  • Sea salt for sprinkling Sea salt for sprinkling

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by peeling and dicing the Honey Crisp apples into small pieces.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Mix these dry ingredients well.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk and egg until fully combined.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring just until combined. A few lumps are perfectly fine! Gently fold in the diced apples.
Cooking
  1. In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat about an inch of oil over medium heat. Test if it’s hot enough by dropping a little batter into the oil; it should sizzle immediately.
  2. Using a spoon or small ice cream scoop, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil. Fry in batches for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  3. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain.
  4. While still warm, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over each fritter. Serve them drizzled with honey for an extra-special touch!

Notes

Store leftover fritters in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days or freeze for a month. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes or in a pan over low heat.
