Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened unsalted butter and cream cheese until fluffy and smooth.
- Gradually add the granulated and brown sugars to the creamed mixture and mix until well incorporated.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this to the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Gently fold in the caramel sauce and optional chocolate chips.
Baking
- Drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden but the centers remain soft.
- Sprinkle each cookie with a pinch of sea salt immediately after taking them out of the oven.
- Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Enjoy fresh or store for later!
Notes
For optimal results, use room temperature ingredients and avoid overmixing the dough. Chilling the dough for 30 minutes can improve handling and flavor.
