Ingredients
  

For the cookie dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use room temperature.
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened Use room temperature.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional) Ensure they are Halal-compliant.
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt for topping Sprinkle on top after baking.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened unsalted butter and cream cheese until fluffy and smooth.
  3. Gradually add the granulated and brown sugars to the creamed mixture and mix until well incorporated.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this to the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the caramel sauce and optional chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden but the centers remain soft.
  3. Sprinkle each cookie with a pinch of sea salt immediately after taking them out of the oven.
  4. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  5. Enjoy fresh or store for later!

Notes

For optimal results, use room temperature ingredients and avoid overmixing the dough. Chilling the dough for 30 minutes can improve handling and flavor.
