Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup apples, peeled and diced
  • 0.75 cup salted caramel sauce Plus more for drizzling on top
  • 0.5 cup sour cream Can substitute with Greek yogurt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir until well blended.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add in the sugar and continue to mix until fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time to the butter mixture, incorporating the sour cream and vanilla extract. Mix until combined.
  5. Slowly mix in the dry ingredients, being careful not to over-mix.
  6. Gently fold in the diced apples and 0.5 cup of salted caramel sauce until evenly distributed.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  3. Before serving, drizzle with additional caramel sauce for extra flavor.

Notes

For best results, avoid over-mixing the batter to keep the cake light and fluffy. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for up to three months.
