Ingredients

Apple Filling

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Freshly squeezed for best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup sugar Adjust based on apple sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Adds warmth and spice.
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour Helps bind the juices together while baking.
Crust
  • 1 sheet pie crust Store-bought or homemade.
  • 1 egg for egg wash Provides a shiny, golden finish.
  • 1 tablespoon butter Optional, for richer flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, and flour. Toss until the apples are well coated.
  3. Roll out the pie crust to about 12 inches in diameter and transfer it to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Spoon the apple mixture into the center of the pie crust, leaving a 1.5-inch border around the edges.
  5. Fold the edges of the crust over the apples to create pleats.
  6. Beat the egg and brush it over the crust. If using butter, dot small pieces over the exposed apples.
Baking
  1. Bake the tart in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes, until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
  2. Let the tart cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Store the tart in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. For longer storage, freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat slices in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes.
