Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 loaf loaf of French bread
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced Use fresh mushrooms for best flavor.
  • 1 head garlic Quality garlic is key for roasting.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Divided for roasting garlic and sautéing mushrooms.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional) For color and added flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cut the top off the head of garlic to expose the individual cloves. Drizzle with a teaspoon of olive oil and wrap in aluminum foil. Roast in the oven for about 25 minutes, or until cloves are soft and fragrant.
  3. While the garlic is roasting, heat the remaining olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms, season with salt and pepper, and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they are golden and tender. Set aside.
Assembly
  1. Halve the loaf of French bread lengthwise.
  2. Squeeze out the soft roasted garlic cloves and spread them evenly across the cut sides of the bread.
  3. Scatter the sautéed mushrooms over the garlic, followed by a generous layering of shredded mozzarella cheese.
Baking
  1. Place the assembled bread on a baking sheet and bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges are slightly crispy.
  2. Remove from the oven, add a sprinkle of freshly chopped parsley for garnish, and slice into individual pieces.
Serving
  1. Serve warm and enjoy the delightful blend of flavors!
