Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Tear the croissants into large pieces and place them into a greased 9x13 baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
- Pour the custard mixture over the croissant pieces, ensuring each piece is soaked. If using chocolate chips, sprinkle them throughout the mixture.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before dusting with powdered sugar and serving warm.
Notes
For best results, let the casserole sit for 30 minutes before baking so the croissant pieces fully absorb the custard. Can substitute croissants with brioche or challah if needed.
