Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
Add-ins
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the white chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Baking
  1. Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set.
  3. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For thicker cookies, consider chilling the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before baking to prevent spreading. Pair these cookies with a glass of cold milk, vanilla ice cream, or whipped cream.
