Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven according to the instructions on the red velvet cake mix box.
  2. Follow the instructions on the red velvet cake mix box to bake your cake. Let it cool completely.
  3. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth and creamy.

Assembly
  1. In your jars, start layering. Begin with crumbled cake, followed by a layer of the cream mixture. Repeat the layering process until the jars are filled.
  2. Finish each jar with a sprinkle of crushed cookies or chocolate shavings on top.
  3. Place the jars in the refrigerator for at least two hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
