Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef or a lean alternative
  • 2 cups broccoli florets fresh or frozen
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce optional
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked rice or noodles for serving

Method

Preparation
  1. Gather all the ingredients. Wash the broccoli and cut it into florets if using fresh broccoli. Set it aside.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spatula, until it’s browned and cooked through (about 5-7 minutes). Drain any excess fat if necessary.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add the broccoli florets to the skillet. Stir everything together and cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the broccoli is bright green and just tender.
  6. Pour in the soy sauce and oyster sauce, mixing well to coat the beef and broccoli. Stir in the cornstarch-water mixture to thicken the sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce has thickened, stirring frequently.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
  8. Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles.

Notes

For ingredient substitutions, try using ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option. Fresh broccoli is recommended for best flavor, but frozen can be used to save time. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or in a skillet over low heat.
