Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 cups green cabbage, finely shredded
  • 2 cups red cabbage, finely shredded
  • 2 medium apples, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (e.g., walnuts or pecans)
  • ½ cup raisins (optional) Adds sweetness and texture
Dressing
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for a vegan version)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by removing the outer leaves of the cabbage. Then, slice both the green and red cabbage into thin strips. Place them in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Slice the apples thinly and toss them with the shredded carrots in the bowl with the cabbage.
  3. If using, add the chopped nuts and raisins for added crunch and sweetness.
Making the Dressing
  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together the apple cider vinegar, olive oil, honey, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Mixing and Serving
  1. Drizzle the dressing over the cabbage and apple mixture, then toss everything gently until the salad is well-coated.
  2. Refrigerate for about 10-15 minutes to let the flavors mingle before serving. This salad tastes even better if allowed to rest for an hour!
