Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup bread flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup ube (purple yam) puree
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
Filling and Topping

  • as needed tbsp butter for brushing

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, bread flour, sugar, and salt. Mix well!
  2. In a separate bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  3. Add the ube puree, melted butter, and eggs to the yeast mixture and combine with the dry ingredients until well mixed.
  4. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Let the dough rise in a warm environment until doubled in size, which should take about 1 hour.
  6. After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into equal portions.
  7. Flatten each piece of dough, place a slice of cheese in the center, and roll it up tightly.
  8. Arrange the shaped rolls on a baking sheet, cover them, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  10. Brush the rolls with melted butter and bake for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Let them cool slightly and enjoy warm!
