Puppy Chow, also known as Muddy Buddies, is a quick and delicious no-bake snack made with crispy cereal coated in a chocolate-peanut butter mixture and dusted generously with powdered sugar.

Equipment

  • - Large microwave-safe bowl
  • - Mixing spoon or spatula
  • - Large resealable plastic bag (or a mixing bowl with a lid)
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients
  

  • - 9 cups crispy rice or corn cereal squares like Chex
  • - 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • - 1/2 cup peanut butter creamy or crunchy
  • - 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • - 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions
 

  • **Prepare cereal** Place the cereal in a large mixing bowl and set aside.
  • **Melt the chocolate mixture** In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Microwave in 20–30 second intervals, stirring after each, until the mixture is smooth and fully melted. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • **Coat the cereal** Pour the melted chocolate-peanut butter mixture over the cereal. Gently toss with a spatula until all the cereal is evenly coated.
  • **Add powdered sugar** Transfer the coated cereal into a large resealable plastic bag or a mixing bowl with a lid. Add the powdered sugar, seal the bag or cover the bowl, and shake vigorously until all pieces are well coated.
  • **Cool and serve** Spread the coated cereal onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let it cool completely. Once cooled, transfer to an airtight container or serve immediately.
