Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 pounds beef stew meat (cut into bite-sized pieces) Cut into bite-sized pieces for easy cooking.
  • 4 medium-sized carrots (peeled and chopped)
  • 3 large potatoes (peeled and cubed)
  • 1 large onion (diced)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 4 cups beef broth (ensure it's halal)
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (halal)
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • Fresh parsley (for garnishing) Optional for serving.

Method

Preparation
  1. Brown the beef stew meat in a skillet over medium heat. This step is optional but adds richer flavors.
  2. In a large crockpot, layer the chopped carrots, potatoes, and diced onion. Add the browned beef on top.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the beef broth, minced garlic, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Pour this mixture over the ingredients in the crockpot.
  4. Cover the crockpot and set it on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours.
  5. Once the cooking time is up, stir the stew and taste it. Adjust the seasoning if needed.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For variations, try using lamb or chicken instead of beef. Make sure to give your stew ample time to cook for the best flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
