Ingredients

  • For the Steak
  • 4 cube steaks about 1 ½ lbs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil for frying
  • For the Gravy
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For Garnish
  • Fresh parsley chopped

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Steak
  • Season the cube steaks with salt and pepper. In a shallow dish, mix the flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. In another dish, whisk together the eggs and milk.
  • Step 2: Coat and Fry
  • Dredge each steak in the flour mixture, then dip in the egg mixture, and coat again in the flour mixture. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the steaks for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • Step 3: Make the Gravy
  • Pour off all but 2 tablespoons of the oil from the skillet. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly, until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Step 4: Serve & Enjoy
  • Serve the chicken fried steaks hot, topped with the gravy and garnished with fresh parsley.
