Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, combine the grated cassava, sugar, water, lye water, and vanilla extract (if using). Stir until well mixed.
- Grease your mold or baking pan to prevent sticking.
- Pour the mixture into the greased mold, smoothing out the top.
Cooking
- Steam over medium heat for 30-40 minutes, or until firm and cooked through. A toothpick should come out clean when it’s ready.
- Once done, allow it to cool for a bit before slicing it into cubes.
Serving
- Coat each piece with either grated coconut or shredded cheese before serving. Enjoy these delightful bites!
Notes
Pichi-Pichi can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for about two days, or refrigerated for up to a week. If you have leftovers, you can freeze them for later enjoyment. To reheat, simply steam them briefly to restore their soft texture.
