Ingredients
  

For the filling
  • 1 lb Ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 1 cup Cheese (mozzarella or provolone, shredded) Choose your preferred cheese for filling.
  • 1/2 cup Bell peppers (diced) Any color of bell pepper can be used.
  • 1/2 cup Onion (diced) Yellow or white onion works best.
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 package Pizza dough (store-bought or homemade) Use your favorite dough type.
  • 1 egg Beaten for egg wash This will give the breadsticks a golden color.
Optional toppings
  • Jalapeños, herbs Feel free to add your choice of toppings.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add in the diced bell peppers and onions, sauté until tender (about 5 minutes).
  3. Season with garlic powder, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning, stirring well to combine.
Mixing the Filling
  1. Remove the skillet from heat and add shredded cheese to the beef mixture. Stir until melted.
Preparing the Dough
  1. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle.
  2. Spoon the beef and cheese mixture onto the center of the dough, leaving space along the edges.
  3. Fold each side of the dough over the filling and pinch to seal. Cut into individual sticks.
Baking
  1. Place the breadsticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush lightly with beaten egg.
  2. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Serving
  1. Let them cool slightly before serving with dipping sauces like marinara or ranch.

Notes

To store leftovers, place in an airtight container in the fridge. They last for up to 3 days or can be frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
