Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it is at room temperature.
  • 4 cups powdered sugar Sift before using for a smoother texture.
  • 1/4 cup milk Add more if adjusting consistency.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Feel free to adjust for more flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients and tools needed: a mixing bowl and an electric mixer.
  2. Ensure the butter is softened to room temperature.
Mixing
  1. Place the softened butter in a large mixing bowl. Beat the butter on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Gradually add in powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, mixing on low speed to prevent a powdery explosion, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  3. Pour in the milk and vanilla extract, and mix on medium speed until everything is well combined.
  4. Adjust the consistency as needed by adding more milk (1 tablespoon at a time) if it's too thick or more powdered sugar if it's too thin.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness or vanilla flavor as desired.
Frosting
  1. Your Perfect Vanilla Frosting is ready! Spread it generously on cakes or swirl it on cupcakes.

Notes

Store any leftover frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week, or freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge and mix to restore texture.
