Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
Mix-ins
  • 2 cups semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line your baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the unsalted butter with both sugars until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add in the salt, vanilla extract, and eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
Baking
  1. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until edges are golden.
  3. Allow cookies to cool on the sheets for a couple of minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to one week or freeze for up to three months.
