Ingredients

For the Pizza Pockets
  • 1 batch pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup pepperoni slices (halal) Ensure pepperoni is halal-compliant.
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup pizza sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. If using store-bought dough, roll it out on a lightly floured surface until it’s about ¼ inch thick.
  3. Use a round cutter or a glass to cut circles (about 4-5 inches in diameter) out of the dough.
  4. On one half of each circle, place a slice of pepperoni, a spoonful of pizza sauce, and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese.
  5. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and press the edges to seal them. Use a fork to crimp the edges.
  6. Place the sealed pizza pockets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with olive oil and sprinkle with dried oregano.
Baking
  1. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the pockets are golden brown and the cheese is bubbling inside.
  2. Let them cool slightly before serving. Pair with extra pizza sauce for dipping.

Notes

Dough substitutions can include whole wheat or gluten-free options. Keep an eye on baking time to prevent burning. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for about a month.
