Ingredients

For the Crust
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
For the Filling
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped You can substitute with walnuts or almonds if preferred.
  • 3/4 cup corn syrup Can be substituted with maple syrup for a healthier option.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, softened unsalted butter, brown sugar, and salt. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Press the dough evenly into the bottom of a greased 9×9-inch baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes until it’s lightly golden.
Filling
  1. In a bowl, whisk together the corn syrup, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  2. Stir in the chopped pecans until evenly distributed throughout the filling mixture.
Combine and Bake
  1. Once the crust is ready, pour the pecan mixture over it and return to the oven. Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes or until the filling is set and the top is slightly caramelized.
  2. Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting them into squares.

Notes

For a twist, you can add seasonal spices like cinnamon or nutmeg to the pecan filling. Store the bars in an airtight container for up to 3-5 days, or freeze them for later enjoyment.
