Ingredients

Base Ingredients
  • 1 cup peanut butter (smooth or chunky, your choice)
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened (ensure it’s at room temperature)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar (sifted to prevent lumps)
  • 1/4 cup milk (adjust for desired consistency)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (to enhance flavor)

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by taking the butter out of the fridge to soften. This will help your frosting mix smoothly.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and peanut butter. Beat them together using a hand mixer or stand mixer until they are creamy and well blended.
  3. Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time. Mix on low speed to keep the sugar from flying everywhere. Once incorporated, the frosting will begin to thicken.
  4. Pour in the milk and vanilla extract. Beat the mixture on medium speed for 1-2 minutes until you achieve a light, fluffy consistency. Adjust with more milk or powdered sugar as needed.
  5. Give your frosting a taste. Adjust sweetness with more powdered sugar or nuttiness with more peanut butter.
  6. Your Peanut Butter Frosting is now ready to be spread on your cake, cookies, or enjoyed by the spoonful!

Notes

For a healthier twist, substitute Greek yogurt for some of the butter. Make frosting right before using to ensure freshness and ideal texture. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for about a week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
