Ingredients

For the Trifle Layers
  • 4 cups sliced peaches Fresh or canned (use in 100% juice if canned)
  • 1 pound cake or ladyfingers Choose soft sponge cake for best results
  • 2 cups vanilla pudding Instant or homemade, as per your preference
  • 1 cup whipped cream Lightly sweetened for an airy touch
  • 2 tablespoons sugar To enhance the natural sweetness of the peaches
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For an aromatic boost
  • to taste mint leaves For garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. If using fresh peaches, wash, peel, and slice them into thin wedges. If using canned peaches, drain and slice if needed.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine vanilla pudding mix with milk (or water, as per brand instructions) and whisk until thickened. Optionally, add vanilla extract for extra flavor.
  3. Slice the pound cake into even layers or keep ladyfingers whole. Optionally brush the cake with syrup from canned peaches for added flavor.
Layering
  1. In a clear glass bowl or individual cups, start with a layer of cake.
  2. Spoon a layer of pudding over it, followed by a layer of sliced peaches.
  3. Repeat the layering process (cake, pudding, peaches) until all ingredients are used, finishing with whipped cream on top.
Finishing Touches
  1. Spoon the whipped cream generously over the last layer of peaches. Sprinkle with sugar and garnish with mint leaves.
  2. Cover the trifle and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to meld the flavors.
  3. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Can store in the fridge for up to three days. Avoid freezing as texture may change. Consider using other fruits like strawberries or blueberries for variety. Be careful not to over-soak the cake to avoid mushiness.
