Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, mixing well after each addition.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt, then gradually add to the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Pour the dough into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly across the bottom.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool completely in the pan before frosting.
- Frost with cream cheese frosting and sprinkle with red, white, and blue decorations.
- Using the parchment paper, lift the bars from the dish, slice into squares, and serve.
Notes
For best results, ensure butter is softened to room temperature. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months. Thaw before serving.
