Are you ready to indulge in a slice of sweetness that’s not just a dessert but a heartwarming tradition? Let me introduce you to Panela Cake, a delightful Venezuelan treat that captures the essence of comfort and joy in every bite.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg All-purpose flour
  • 1 Panela
  • 4 Eggs
  • Star anise
  • Cinnamon powder
  • 2 Baking soda
  • 1 l Water
  • 100 g Margarine

Instructions

  • Prepare the Mixture: In a pot, combine 1 liter of water, 1 panela, and a few pieces of star anise. Sprinkle in some cinnamon powder. Heat over low until everything is well mixed, then remove from heat and allow it to cool for about 20 minutes.
  • Combine Other Ingredients: Once cooled, add 100g of margarine to the pot, along with 2 teaspoons of baking soda and 4 eggs, adding them one by one. Using a whisk, mix until the batter is smooth and lump-free.
  • Incorporate Flour: Gradually fold in 1 kg of all-purpose flour to the wet mixture, ensuring a homogeneous texture.
  • Bake the Cake: Pour the final batter into a floured mold. Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F) and bake the cake for 25 to 30 minutes. You can check for doneness by inserting a wooden toothpick; if it comes out clean, it's ready!
  • Cool and Serve: Allow your cake to cool slightly before serving. You can enjoy it on its own or paired with fresh fruit or whipped cream.
