Oven Baked Hash Browns

Oven Baked Hash Browns are the perfect crispy and golden breakfast side dish that’s easy to make and healthier than frying.

Equipment

  • - Box grater or food processor
  • - Mixing bowl
  • - Baking sheet
  • - Parchment paper or silicone baking mat
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • - 3 medium russet potatoes peeled and grated
  • - 1/4 cup finely chopped onion optional
  • - 3 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • - 1 teaspoon salt
  • - 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder optional
  • - 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika optional

Instructions

  • **Prepare the Potatoes:** Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Grate the potatoes using a box grater or food processor. Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out as much moisture as possible.
  • **Mix the Ingredients:** Transfer the grated potatoes to a mixing bowl. Add the chopped onion, olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Toss until well combined.
  • **Spread the Potatoes:** Evenly spread the potato mixture in a thin layer on the prepared baking sheet. For extra crispiness, press the potatoes down firmly.
  • **Bake the Hash Browns:** Bake for 20 minutes, then use a spatula to flip the potatoes and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  • **Serve and Enjoy:** Remove from the oven and serve immediately with your favorite breakfast accompaniments.
