Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 slices slices of bread (your choice: brioche, whole grain, etc.)
  • 2 large large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest (freshly grated)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Butter (for frying)
  • Powdered sugar (for serving)
  • Maple syrup (for serving)

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, orange zest, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
  2. Place a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a generous pat of butter to coat the pan.
  3. Take one slice of bread at a time, dip it into the egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides well.
Cooking
  1. Place the coated bread in the heated skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until both sides are golden brown and slightly crispy. Repeat with the remaining slices.
  2. Once cooked, remove from the skillet and place on a serving plate. Dust lightly with powdered sugar and drizzle with maple syrup before serving.

Notes

For perfecting your Orange French Toast, use thick-cut bread like brioche or challah, and consider adding spices like nutmeg. Don’t overcrowd the pan and avoid overcooking to prevent burnt toast.
