Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until evenly combined.
- In another bowl, cream the softened butter until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
- Add orange juice, eggs, zest, and vanilla extract to the butter and mix until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
Baking
- Pour the batter into the greased pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Glazing
- While the cake is cooling, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, orange juice, and zest until smooth.
- Once cooled, drizzle the glaze over the cake and let it set briefly before serving.
Notes
Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an elevated experience. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days; or freeze individual slices for 2-3 months.
