Cooking Preparations
- In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and cook until translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
- Toss in the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Increase the heat to medium-high, add the halal ground beef, and cook until it's well browned, breaking it into smaller pieces with a wooden spoon.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes, beef broth, and Italian seasoning. Stir well, then bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- Add the fettuccine directly into the sauce. Cover the pot and let it cook according to the package directions, usually around 10 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure the pasta doesn’t stick.
- Once the pasta is cooked to al dente, season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot topped with Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of fresh basil.
Notes
For alternatives, ground chicken or turkey can be used for a leaner option, or a veggie substitute for a plant-based meal. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
