Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb beef (sliced) Choose a tender cut of beef, such as sirloin.
  • 1 large onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 8 oz mushrooms (sliced)
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 8 oz egg noodles (uncooked)

Method

Cooking Steps
  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot or skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned on all sides, usually about 5-7 minutes. Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.
  3. In the same pot, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until they become fragrant and translucent.
  4. Toss in the sliced mushrooms and cook for another 5 minutes until they are tender.
  5. Sprinkle the flour over the mushroom mixture and stir to coat.
  6. Gradually pour in the beef broth, scraping any browned bits off the bottom of the pot. Bring this to a simmer.
  7. After the mixture is simmering, add the uncooked egg noodles and return the browned beef to the pot. Stir everything together and cover the pot.
  8. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, or until the noodles are fully cooked and tender.
  9. Once the noodles are cooked, reduce the heat to low and gently stir in the sour cream. Season with salt and pepper to your taste.
  10. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve.

Notes

This dish can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or frozen for 2-3 months. When reheating, add a splash of beef broth or water to restore the creamy texture.
