Cooking Steps
- Heat the olive oil in a large pot or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced beef and cook until browned on all sides, usually about 5-7 minutes. Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.
- In the same pot, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until they become fragrant and translucent.
- Toss in the sliced mushrooms and cook for another 5 minutes until they are tender.
- Sprinkle the flour over the mushroom mixture and stir to coat.
- Gradually pour in the beef broth, scraping any browned bits off the bottom of the pot. Bring this to a simmer.
- After the mixture is simmering, add the uncooked egg noodles and return the browned beef to the pot. Stir everything together and cover the pot.
- Cook for about 10-12 minutes, or until the noodles are fully cooked and tender.
- Once the noodles are cooked, reduce the heat to low and gently stir in the sour cream. Season with salt and pepper to your taste.
- Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve.
Notes
This dish can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or frozen for 2-3 months. When reheating, add a splash of beef broth or water to restore the creamy texture.
