Ingredients
  

Main ingredients
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup boiling water To soak the oats
  • 1/2 cup molasses Can substitute with maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil Can substitute with olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup raisins or nuts Optional for added texture

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, pour the rolled oats and cover them with 1 cup of boiling water. Allow to sit for about 15 minutes.
  3. Once the oats have softened, add in the molasses, honey, and vegetable oil. Stir well.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the salt, baking powder, baking soda, and flour until evenly blended.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring just until combined.
  6. Grease a loaf pan or line with parchment paper, then pour the batter into the pan.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For storage, wrap cooled bread tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. It lasts up to 1 week at room temperature or can be frozen for 3 months. Reheat slices in a toaster or oven.
