  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar can substitute with other types of sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar can substitute with other types of sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Mix-ins
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir well.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until well incorporated.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a lined baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  2. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes

For a chewy texture, avoid overmixing the dough. Consider using coconut oil for a dairy-free version. Optional add-ins include nuts or spices.
