Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar or mozzarella) Feel free to mix different cheese varieties.
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For greasing the skillet.

Method

Preparation of Dough
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and instant yeast. Whisk the dry ingredients together until well mixed.
Incorporate Cheese
  1. Add the shredded cheese into the bowl and mix it with the dry ingredients.
Add Water
  1. Gradually add the water to the mixture. Use a spatula or wooden spoon to combine until no dry flour remains. The dough should be sticky.
Let It Rise
  1. Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let it sit at room temperature for at least 1 hour to allow the dough to rise.
Preheat Skillet
  1. After the resting period, heat a cast-iron skillet on medium heat, lightly greased with olive oil.
Shape the Dough
  1. Scrape the dough out onto a floured surface and shape it into a round loaf. Transfer it to the hot skillet.
Cook the Bread
  1. Cover the skillet with a lid and cook for 20-25 minutes. After 10 minutes, carefully flip the bread for even cooking.
Final Texture Touch
  1. Once the bread is golden and sounds hollow when tapped, remove it from the skillet and let it cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before slicing.

Notes

To keep your bread fresh, store it at room temperature in a bread bag or wrapped in plastic wrap. Best consumed within 2 days. For longer storage, freeze slices in an airtight container.
