Method
Preparation of Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and instant yeast. Whisk the dry ingredients together until well mixed.
Incorporate Cheese
- Add the shredded cheese into the bowl and mix it with the dry ingredients.
Add Water
- Gradually add the water to the mixture. Use a spatula or wooden spoon to combine until no dry flour remains. The dough should be sticky.
Let It Rise
- Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let it sit at room temperature for at least 1 hour to allow the dough to rise.
Preheat Skillet
- After the resting period, heat a cast-iron skillet on medium heat, lightly greased with olive oil.
Shape the Dough
- Scrape the dough out onto a floured surface and shape it into a round loaf. Transfer it to the hot skillet.
Cook the Bread
- Cover the skillet with a lid and cook for 20-25 minutes. After 10 minutes, carefully flip the bread for even cooking.
Final Texture Touch
- Once the bread is golden and sounds hollow when tapped, remove it from the skillet and let it cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before slicing.
Notes
To keep your bread fresh, store it at room temperature in a bread bag or wrapped in plastic wrap. Best consumed within 2 days. For longer storage, freeze slices in an airtight container.
