Ingredients
Method
Preparation of Dough
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
- Gradually stir in flour and salt until a dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
Rising
- Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
Shaping and Baking
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Once the dough has risen, divide it into 8 equal pieces. Flatten each piece, place a mozzarella stick in the center, and fold the dough over it.
- Roll it out into a rope and twist into the pretzel shape.
- In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water and the baking soda to a boil. Carefully add pretzels to the water for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on the baking sheet.
- Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle coarse sea salt. Bake for about 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Cooling
- Allow them to cool slightly before adding a delicious dipping sauce, and enjoy your mozzarella stuffed pretzels!
