Ingredients

Cheese and Coating
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, cubed Use fresh mozzarella for the best texture.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Panko breadcrumbs can add extra crunch.
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large egg, beaten Make sure to whisk it until well-beaten.
For Frying
  • Oil for frying Use enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan, about half an inch deep.

Method

Preparation
  1. Cut the mozzarella cheese into bite-sized cubes and set aside.
  2. In one bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the egg until well-beaten.
  4. Place the flour in a third bowl.
Coating
  1. Take each cube of mozzarella and dip it into the flour until fully coated. Shake off any excess.
  2. Next, dip the floured cheese into the beaten egg, allowing any excess egg to drip back.
  3. Finally, roll the cheese in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing slightly to ensure it sticks.
Cooking
  1. In a frying pan, heat oil over medium heat.
  2. Once the oil is shimmering, carefully place a few coated mozzarella cubes into the pan, making sure not to overcrowd it.
  3. Fry the bites for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  4. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the cooked bites to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serving
  1. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
