Cream Cheese Layer Ingredients
  • 1 cup cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, melt the unsalted butter. Add the granulated sugar and mix until fully incorporated.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until well blended.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. Carefully fold in the chocolate chips, setting aside a few for topping.
Baking
  1. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  2. While the brownies are baking, mix the cream cheese and powdered sugar in a bowl until smooth and creamy.
  3. Remove the brownies from the oven and pour the cream cheese mixture on top, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle the reserved chocolate chips on top.
  4. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cream cheese layer is just set.
  5. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, use a dairy-free butter substitute and vegan cream cheese. Keep an eye on baking time for the cream cheese layer to ensure a silky texture.
