Imagine biting into a soft, moist cake that oozes with sweetness, thanks to the heavenly layers of rich chocolate and decadent caramel. Not only is this cake incredibly delicious, but it’s also a treat that brings people together.

Ingredients

  • 1 box of German chocolate cake mix plus ingredients needed for the mix
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup chocolate frosting
  • 1/2 cup caramel frosting

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C) and greasing a 9x13 inch baking dish to ensure an easy release of your cake.
  • Prepare the Cake: In a mixing bowl, prepare the German chocolate cake mix as directed on the package. Once ready, pour the batter into the greased baking dish and bake according to package instructions.
  • Cool the Cake: Once baked, allow the cake to cool slightly for about 10-15 minutes. This will help it firm up while being poked!
  • Poke Holes: Using the handle of a wooden spoon or a skewer, poke holes all over the top of the cake. Make sure the holes are evenly distributed for maximum flavor absorption!
  • Add Sweetness: Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the cake, letting it soak into the holes. Follow this with a drizzle of caramel sauce over the top.
  • Sprinkle the Goodies: Evenly sprinkle the chocolate chips, shredded coconut, and chopped pecans all over the cake for that texture and taste you've been craving.
  • Frosting: Microwave the chocolate and caramel frostings for a few seconds to make them pourable. Drizzle them generously over the cake.
  • Rest and Serve: Allow the cake to sit for at least 30 minutes to meld all those wonderful flavors together. Then, slice and enjoy!
