Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups mixed berries (fresh or frozen) Fresh berries are ideal, but frozen berries work well too!
  • ½ cup sugar Can substitute with honey or maple syrup.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, add the mixed berries, sugar, and lemon juice.
Cooking
  1. Turn the heat to medium and stir gently to combine. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  2. Allow the berries to simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they soften and release their juices.
Cooling and Serving
  1. Remove from heat and let the compote cool to room temperature. It will thicken slightly as it cools.
  2. Once cooled, serve immediately or transfer to an airtight container for storage.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks, or freeze for up to three months. Thaw in the refrigerator or reheat gently in a saucepan upon use.
