  • 2 tbsp tomato paste Adds richness to the filling.
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce Enhances the beef flavor.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced For added flavor.
  • 1 onion, chopped Adds sweetness and depth.
  • 2 carrots, diced For color and sweetness.
  • 1 cup peas Frozen or fresh can be used.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Season to your preference.
For the crust
  • 1 package pie crusts (or puff pastry) Store-bought or homemade.
  • 1 egg for egg wash Gives a golden finish.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the minced beef until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  3. Drain any excess fat to keep the filling lean.
  4. Toss in the chopped onions, diced carrots, and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent and the carrots are tender.
  5. Add the peas and cook for one more minute.
  6. Stir in the beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-10 minutes until thickened.
  7. Roll out one pie crust and lay it in a pie dish. Pour the beef mixture into the crust, spreading it evenly.
  8. Place the second pie crust on top, seal the edges, and cut slits to allow steam to escape.
  9. Beat the egg and brush it over the top crust.
Baking
  1. Place in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
  2. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.

Notes

Serve with chips and a garden salad. To elevate, add toppings like mashed potatoes or consider adding mushrooms for extra flavor.
