Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the minced beef until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Drain any excess fat to keep the filling lean.
- Toss in the chopped onions, diced carrots, and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent and the carrots are tender.
- Add the peas and cook for one more minute.
- Stir in the beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-10 minutes until thickened.
- Roll out one pie crust and lay it in a pie dish. Pour the beef mixture into the crust, spreading it evenly.
- Place the second pie crust on top, seal the edges, and cut slits to allow steam to escape.
- Beat the egg and brush it over the top crust.
Baking
- Place in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
Notes
Serve with chips and a garden salad. To elevate, add toppings like mashed potatoes or consider adding mushrooms for extra flavor.
