Method
Cooking Pasta
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the Ditalini pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Sautéing Sausage
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced Halal sausage and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
Adding Aromatics
- Toss in the minced garlic and diced onion to the skillet. Sauté for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the onion is translucent and fragrant.
Combining with Tomatoes
- Pour the crushed tomatoes and Italian seasoning into the skillet. Stir well, allowing the mixture to simmer for about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Mixing in Pasta
- Add the cooked Ditalini pasta to the skillet and mix everything until the pasta is well coated with the sauce.
Finishing with Cheese
- Remove from heat and stir in half of the grated parmesan cheese. The remaining cheese can be sprinkled on top before serving.
Garnishing
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil and additional parmesan as desired.
Notes
If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days. Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop, adding a splash of water to maintain its creamy consistency.
