Ingredients

  • - 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • - 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • - 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg optional
  • - 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • - 1 tablespoon unsalted butter for cooking

  • - 1/2 cup pecans chopped
  • - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • - 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • - 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • #### **Step 1: Toast the Pecans**
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Spread chopped pecans on a baking sheet and toast for 5-7 minutes until fragrant.
  • In a small pan, melt butter over medium heat, then stir in maple syrup and cinnamon. Toss in the toasted pecans and cook for 1-2 minutes, then set aside.
  • #### **Step 2: Prepare the French Toast Batter**
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream (if using), maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
  • #### **Step 3: Cook the French Toast**
  • Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon butter.
  • Dip each slice of bread into the batter, letting excess drip off.
  • Cook for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  • #### **Step 4: Assemble & Serve**
  • Plate the French toast and top with warm maple pecans.
  • Drizzle with additional maple syrup and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
  • Serve immediately with whipped cream for an extra indulgent touch.
