Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes with a hand mixer.
- Beat in the egg, followed by the maple syrup and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined; do not overmix.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
- Dust the top with powdered sugar once cooled.
