Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a large bowl, combine the melted unsalted butter and brown sugar. Whisk until smooth, then add the maple syrup, eggs, and vanilla extract, whisking until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, ground cinnamon, and salt.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a spatula, being careful not to overmix.
- If using, fold in the chopped walnuts.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before lifting them out using the parchment paper.
- Slice into squares and serve.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days. Refrigerate for up to a week or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the microwave for a few seconds before serving for a warm texture.
