Ingredients
  

For the Sticky Rice
  • 1 cup glutinous rice Make sure it's well rinsed and soaked.
  • 1.5 cups coconut milk Use full-fat for creaminess.
  • 1/2 cup sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Enhances the flavor.
For Serving
  • 2 ripe mangoes ripe mangoes Peeled and sliced.
  • Sesame seeds Optional, for garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rinsed rice in water for at least 3 hours or ideally overnight.
Cooking the Rice
  1. Drain the soaked rice and transfer it to a steamer lined with cheesecloth. Steam for 25-30 minutes until tender, checking occasionally.
Preparing Coconut Sauce
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Reserve a small amount for drizzling later.
Combining Ingredients
  1. Once the rice is cooked, pour the coconut sauce over it and gently mix until the rice is evenly coated. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
Serving
  1. Mold the sticky rice onto plates, arrange mango slices alongside, and drizzle with the reserved coconut sauce. Optionally sprinkle sesame seeds on top.

Notes

For best results, don't over-steam the rice. You can substitute sugar with honey or maple syrup for a healthier option. This dessert is vegan and can be made in advance. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
